So it's time to say goodbye..... the kittens have all found loving forever homes to begin their new lives.... even though my time with them was special (after all, I got to watch them grow from babies to teenagers!), I always knew that this was just a temporary arrangement before their new families came for them.
These babies have come full circle - from danger and abandonment on the streets, to lives full of caring and protection. An hour from death to a lifetime of love....
In honor of the new journies that unfold through rescue and adoption, I wrote a poem to mark the moment where new life and new friendships begin.
New Life….
Like the first footprint in snow or sand
An imprint of perfection
Untouched by the hand
of cruelty or neglect.
New Life….
Binds the hearts that open
Like delicate flowers to the sun
Fragrant with hope’s blossom
In our gardens grown from love
New Life…
Grows out of today
As together we rewrite your stories of sadness, abuse and pain
In the stillness of new beginnings
Together, we begin again
I promise and pledge to you my friendship, my protection and my love
Because today you became my best friend
A seedling in the garden of my love.
